Course Objectives: This course aims to render the student as capable in research and discusses the concept of design and its methods. It examines the quantitative and qualitative approaches to scientific research methods. Concentrating on the current methods of Design Research, the course ensures that the students become advanced on their subject areas and academically and statistically equipped.

1. Student will be able to be familiar with the concept of research, design research, research degrees and research projects.
2. Student will be able to identify a subject, collect information
3. Student will be able to develop an understanding of qualitative and quantitative methods.
4. Student will be able to recognize and compare statistical packages used for analyzing his/her research results.
5. Student will be able to gain the experience of writing a proper academic paper.

Course Content

This course aims at developing research and statistical data analysis experience of the student and discusses the notion and methods of design.

2) Introduction to the course, research, research subjects, how to choose a topic, literature review (Students: initial discussion about students’ research subjects)

4) Research methods: Qualitative and quantitative methods.
5) Design research, design research degrees & other research issues
6) Students presentations
7) Midterm exam: Theoretical issues of research
8) Preparing a research proposal & grant applications.
9) Data collection, analysis and synthesis.
10) Statistical Package Presentation - I
11) Statistical Package Presentation - II
12) Statistical Package Presentation - III
13) Statistical Package Presentation - IV
14) Review of the semester.
