Course Objectives: | Students are expected to develop creativity, ideation skills and concept visualisation ability through design challenges in 2D and 3D studies. Students iteratively develop solutions to design problems through hands-on investigation of form-giving properties. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; 1. Identify the design criteria that relate to the given design problem 2. Relate the knowledge to ideation skills and concept visualization 3. Develop model making and rendering techniques in the proposal of design solutions 4. Experience the design problems in the context of form, material, utility, usability and manufacturing capabilities 5. Apply creativity and design thinking techniques to the design problems |
The course develops the idea of design theory; concepts of from, material and production techniques, design as applied to two and three-dimensional forms. The content of the course focuses on point, line, surface used in form generation (rectilinear and curvilinear), visual properties of form (shape, size, color, texture, position and orientation), formal relationships in 3D compositions (proportions and structure), perception of visual properties of basic design elements in the articulation of form, and contextual relation of form and function. |
