Course Objectives: | This course is about managing the hand-offs of either information or products in a value-driven supply chain. Supply chain management is concerned with the efficient integration of suppliers, factories, warehouses, and stores so that merchandise is produced and distributed in the right quantities, to the right locations, at the right time in order to minimize total system cost and satisfy customer service requirements. In recent years, firms have attempted to use their supply chain management strategies as a source of competitive advantage. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; I. Identify and explain central concepts within the fields of logistics and supply chain management. II. Apply inventory management policies to deal with variability in the customer demand and lead time in order to improve the efficiency of logistics and increase the competitiveness of the supply chain. III. Identify the logistics network and positions of the inventory on the supply chain. IV. Illustrate the effect of the different types of supply contracts on the materials management and inventory control. V.Explain the importance of collaboration and integration within supply chains. VI. Evaluate the strategies for procurement and outsourcing. VII. Define global issues and risks within the supply chains. VIII. Identify the need for information systems in the supply chain management. |
This course introduce the concept of Supply Chain Management to the students. It mainly covers inventory management, risk pooling, distribution strategies and network planning, supply contracts, value of information, strategic alliances, procurement and Outsourcing, and Risk Management. |
