Course Objectives: The preference of new media environments for news consumption is increasing day by day. Future media professionals are expected to master the production, presentation and distribution processes of content to be brought out on digital platforms. The aim of this course is to provide students with the experience of content production for online environments. Within this scope, students will produce digital contents related to contemporary communication technologies and media. In order to produce content, they will use new production forms of journalism, such as; data journalism, mobile journalism, video news and podcast. Students enrolled in this course will take part in the operation process of Yeni Sayfa Online during the academic term.

Learning Outputs

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) be capable of understanding the structure and functioning of new media environments.
2) recognize the types and features of content that can be published in new media.
3) be capable of understanding how the content production processes should be shaped around new media environments.
4) experience digital content production through producing digital content for Yeni Sayfa Online.
5) experience different dimensions of the new media environment by producing content for social media accounts of Yeni Sayfa Online
6) experience social customer relationship management (SCRM) by managing Yeni Sayfa Online's social media accounts & interactions on social media.
7) develop teamwork skills by producing digital content in the field of digital publishing with a professional responsibility during an academic term

Course Content

Within a division of labor, students enrolled in this course will produce digital content in one or more of the areas of the new media environment. Students will gain professional experience through familiar processes related to the media sector, such as; agenda meetings, action planning efforts, producing contents, and editing contents according to the feedbacks given to them. They will also be able to acquire new technical skills through content production workshops which will carried out during the semester. They will produce digital content, namely; video news, data journalism, mobile journalism and podcast. The content generated by them will be published on Yeni Sayfa Online, and social media accounts affiliated with it. SEO & SEM activities will be carried out by invited speakers and social media management operations will be conducted by the students.
