Course Objectives: | The main objective of this course is expand the student's typographic vocabulary through the use of time-based composition, sound and animation. The application of kinetic media will enable the typographic designer to add motion, scale change, sequence, metamorphosis, and context to typographic communication with the lead of typographic principles. Students will develop a time / movement-related projects using semantic typography with the objective of enhancing visual form, meaning and communication. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; 1) Review typographic principles 2) Review cinematographic principles 3) Define understanding of motion 4) Demonstrate motion design via digital softwares. 5) Execute production process and management 6) Identify the needs for typographic motion design 7) Recognize advanced features of typographic motion design. 8) Analyze concept-product relationship |
This course covers various examples of various kinetic typography work and sources of inspiration. Revisits the
"Hearing Type" lecture from the Typography class. The course also covers topics like basic animation principles, key frame animation, basics of cinematography, output formats. The course gives hands on practice on basic features of Adobe After Effects such as transform animation, key framing, 3D layer, using camera and effects. |
