Course Objectives: This course examines television’s changing position as a cultural, social, political force. Over the course of the semester, we will explore a range of television programs through different critical lenses. The focus of this course will be mainly on contemporary television.

Learning Outputs

The students who have succeeded in this course;
Students will learn the fundamentals of television analysis, popular culture and then be asked to relate these analyses to in-class screenings. Students should come prepared to engage and debate complex ideas and sophisticated arguments on popular culture and television specifically.

Course Content

Focusing on the multilayered relationship between the society and the television. Understanding television's form, content and reception as well as focusing on different debates on dissuasion of these dimensions. Perception of television as entertainment, positioning television as a cultural product and and element of popular culture, reflecting on the political dimensions of television.
