Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to provide directed readings into particular periods in architectural history not covered in other courses at the graduate level. The course will examine recent debates around these issues and provide recognition of the related literature to its students with a critical perspective.

Learning Outputs

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1.Identify the selected period within the context of larger sociopolitical and cultural developments.
2.Recognize the period within its historical and chronological frame and discuss its content using relevant terminology with a critical perspective.
3.Specify problem areas within the selected period, interrogate and discuss them.
4.Acquire recognition of architectural productions of the defined period and be aware of its dynamics.

Course Content

The course will allow students to develop familiarity with a key body of theoretical texts related to the specific period in architectural history. These texts and discussions provided in class aim to comprise a wide perspective in relation to architectural history of the period including the artistic and architectural culture, architecture within the urban context, practices, modes of visual representation, cross- cultural interactions. Students will be expected to develop research projects related to the theme of the course as well as to present their work to the class.
