Course Objectives: Upon completion of the course, students will have encouraged to produce their own animated documentaries by having essential knowledge about animated documentary as a genre and its relationship with reality, basic concepts in documentary cinema, and the different types and forms of creative documentary as well as an animated documentary film proposal.

1) be able to explain what is animated documentary.
2) be able to comprehend the history of documentary cinema and the importance of animated documentary in the world and in Turkey.
3) be able to gain knowledge of the six modes of documentary and animated documentary.
4) be able comprehend the relationship between cultural memory, animated documentary, and history.
5) be able to gain essential knowledge of what animated documentary is, its unique grammar and forms for design her/him/them own documentary project.

Course Content

This course consists of the essential theories and examples of animated documentary cinema as a genre and an animated documentary film proposal. Students will explore the history, narrative structures, and aesthetic approaches of animated documentaries, analyze selected films, and create their own short animated documentary projects. Teaching methods: lectures, film analysis, group discussions, project-based learning, workshops, individual and group feedback sessions.
