Course Objectives: Improving the experience of 5th year students in clinical application.

Learning Outputs

The students who have succeeded in this course;
Upon succesful completion of this course students will be able to;

-Diagnose the periodontal diseases correctly
-Evaluate accurate treatment planning
-Make the criteria of surgcal and non-surgical periodontal treatment choices
-Evaluate periodontal treatment techniques
-Evaluate health and diseas criteria after treatment
-Learn the normal and pathologic anatomy of tooth and supporting tissues and implant planning using dental volumetric tomography and use the tomography software
-Learn the preprosthetic surgical techniques, their indications and contraindications, also the complications and managements of the preprosthetic surgery.
-Learn how to assess the patients who underwent chemo- and radio-therapy, in terms of oral surgical procedures.
-Learn the odontogenic infections and their treatment modalities.
-Learn the bacterial endocarditis and wound prophylaxis.
-Learn the endodontic surgical techniques their indications and contraindications. Also to learn the complications and managements of the endodontic surgery.
-Learn the principles of differential diagnosis and biopsy techniques in oral cavity.
-Learn the surgical treatment techniques of the cysts and tumors in oral cavity
-Be able to handle the difficulties when using the filling materials clinically
-Be able to determine the reason of failure about the restorations
-Be able to do the approach of endodontic emergencies
-Be able to know the resons of failure mostly seen about the root canal treatment
-Be able to treat the teeth which subjected to trauma
-Be able to use the methods of vital or nonvital bleaching.
-Be able to arrange dental treatment methods in childrren
-Be able to describe dental management during growth and development phase
-Have enough knowledge about orthodontic diagnostic methods
-Be able to determine malocclusions
-Have enough knowledge about preventive orthodontics
-Ascertain of impending malocclusions subsequent to environmental factors and have knowledge of the applications to intercept malocclusions
-Have knowledge of directing patients to appropriate disciplines
-Not to do faulty dentistry applications that may cause orthodontics defects
-Make treatment planning of fixed and removable (full and partial) dentures
-Learn about principles of teeth preparation theoretically and pratically
-Learn all methods of provisional restorations theoratically and learning the direct method practically
-Learn about the lab procedures of fixed prostheses theoratically
-Learn about the cementation procedure theoratically
-Learn about the jaw relations and the determination techniques of this relations
-Learn about arrangement in removable (full and partial) dentures as theoretical and practical manner
-Give fundamental knowledge for constructing Removable Partial Dentures(RPD)
-Diagnose the need for RPD and to plan treatment
-Learn about treatment procedures in RDP patients

Course Content

Perform clinical procedures of students together with Periodontology, Oral Diagnose and Radiology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Endodontics, Restorative Dentistry, Orthodontics and Pedodontics Department staff.
