Course Objectives: To provide detailed information on the special legislation of biomedical interventions, to analyse those special provisions within the general principles of law and to resolve the conflicts arising from the application of biomedical interventions.

1) Presentation of the concept of biomedecine, its relation with the law and general principles.
2) Analysis of the concept of human dignity and the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Dignity.
3) The beginnig of life - Supporting pregnancy: Medically assisted procreation and surrogacy.
4) Rejection of pregnancy I: Sterilization and castration.
5) Rejection of pregnancy II: Abortion.
6) The end of life: the concepts of biological death and brain death, their difference and the importace of this difference.
7) Eutanasia and physician-assited suicide.
8) Midterm
9) Organ and tissue transplantation, composite tissue transplantaion, blood transfusion.
10) Gender reassignment.
11) Circumsicion and female genital mutilation.
12) Clinical investigations.
13) Stem cell researches, genetic analysis, cloning, eugenics.
14) The handicapped: A special case analysis - The case of Ashley, the Pillow Angel.
