| Course Objectives: | The course will examine the law, policy and governance of Internet in Turkey. The main objective of this course is to scrutinise the evolution of the legal, institutional and policy frameworks of Internet in Turkey. The course will particularly focus on the issue of fighting against unlawful and inappropriate Internet content. The increasing number of international, regional and national regulations and rules dealing with Internet gave rise to a special regime of roles, rights and obligations for the main Internet actors and stakeholders.The inefficiencies of classical regulatory frameworks in bringing solutions that meet the technical and dynamic nature of Internet, have led to emergence of a new governance model, which is specific for Internet. Another main objective of this course is comprehensively evaluating the Internet-specific governance model from the international and national (Turkish) perspectives. The lectures within this course will be carried out through in-class discussions; working groups and presentations in order to ensure active participation of the students. It is aimed to develop in-depth familiarity with a subset of the issues through intensive researches, discussions, and presentations. |

Learn the historical development of Internet, a global information and communication tool, the current management methods of Internet, the determination method of rules, related Internet, 2. Understand the underpinning theories and policies that explain Turkey's regulation of Internet rules, 3. Demonstrate a critical knowledge of the Turkish Internet content and procedural law, 4. Understand the underpinning theories and policies that explain Turkey's regulation of Internet rules. |
| This course provides students with coherent and advanced knowledge of different areas of internet law, such as copyright protection of content online, software and databases, domain names, consumer protection, intermediary liability, privacy, and jurisdiction and choice of law issues. It discusses the recent developments in this dynamic field of law, challenges it faces, and future perspectives. Keeping in mind the international nature of internet, comparison is made between Australian and foreign (European, US) laws, policies and debates in the field. |
