Course Objectives: To explain the concepts, principles, models and theories of adult education, the characteristics of adults, the meaning, content and skills of lifelong learning and to create awareness in being a lifelong learner.

1. Comprehend the meaning and content of adult education
2. Explain the concepts, models and theories related with adult education
3. Comprehend the learning characteristics of adults
4. Explain basic principles and characteristics of adult education and organizational structure of adult education and its process in Turkey
5. Grasp the importance of lifelong learning and comprehend the meaning, context, components and general principles of lifelong learning
6. Interpret the applications within lifelong learning in Turkey and other countries
7. Develop recommendations for improvement and expansion of lifelong learning

Course Content

The definition and content of adult education; the concepts related to adult education (continuous education, public education, vocational education etc.); the hictorical process of adult education in Turkey; the approaches and models in adult education; adults and learning; the aim of lifelong learning, the historical development of lifelong learning in Turkey and other countries; the practices within lifelong learning in Turkey.
