Course Objectives: | The main objective of this course is to introduce the assessment tools used in education to the pre-service teachers and to make an introduction to the assessment techniques for getting to know learners from multiple perspectives and to the traditional approaches used in the assessment. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; Students will be able to define basic assessment concepts, principles and constructs used in education. Students will be able to develop and evaluate different assessment tools (e.g. written exams, short-answer exams, true/false designs, etc.). Students will be able to create alternative assessment protocols in accordance with age and proficiency levels. Students will be aware of important issues in the assessment of achievement and points to be integrated in the assessment. Students will be able to identify the stages of test development, the evaluation of learning outcomes, and the steps of scoring. |
Assessment tools used in education and their traits. Tools based on traditional approaches. Written exams, short-answer exams, true-false type designs, multiple-choice tests, matching tests, oral exams, education to to examine learners in multiple aspects: observations, interviews, performance evaluation, portfolios, research papers, research projects, peer evaluation, self-assessment, questionnaires, important issues to pay attention in assessing achievement, assessing learning outcomes and scoring. |
