Course Objectives: The objectives of this course are to introduce the theoretical and conceptual definitions of game and the history of the games in human history; to examine the essential studies on children games in the World and in Turkey; to provide holistic knowledge about the physical, historical, socio-cultural and technological properties and features of children games through the Turkish cultural history; to discuss and to evaluate the changing making styles, performances, meanings and functions of Turkish children games in the context of different socio-cultural and technological circumstances; to knowledge traditonal games effect children development; to make project for transfering traditional games.

Learning Outputs

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1. Explain the historical place and basic functions of the games in human history;
2. Define theoretically the concept of game;
3. Evaluate the essential studies on children games in the World and in Turkey;
4. Explain the structural, contextual, productional, performative and functional features of children games through Turkish cultural history;
5. Analyze contextually and functionally the changing, transforming and developmental aspects of Turkish children games in terms of the dynamics of the oral, written and electronical cultural mediums and contexts.
6. Discuss effecet of traditioanl games on child development
7. Develops projects for the transfer of traditional children's games.

Course Content

Traditional children's games in folklore, educational and cultural values of these games, recalling and forgetting children's games in forgotten Turkish culture; the definition of these games, precaution, rules, traditional children's games played with adults and groups; the influence of traditional games on children's development areas; planning and implementing these games.
