Course Objectives: The objective of this course is to have students get media literacy through awareness in use of internet and social media.

Information literacy; awareness in use of internet and social media; effect of social media on individuals; power of spreading information and misinformation; power of news spreading; the media and perception management; legal rights and responsibilities for the media and internet; copyright; right of personality; information confidentiality; privacy violation; language use in the media; value of news and quality analysis; popular culture; gender roles in the media; consumer culture and advertising; media stereotyping.
