Course Objectives: The balance of power is undertaking significant change nowadays. China’s growing global economic power increased this country’s appearanec in the global scene and made it start to compete with the US for global leadership. Thus, the US changed its security policies, facing China’s rise. In addition to these developments, the financial crisis in the Eurozone and the new political atmosphere fostered by the so-called “Arab Spring”, nuclear proliferation, global terrorism and the competition for new energy resources will be studied.

To learn important concepts, ideas, and disputes in world affairs,
To knowledge about the current world politics issues
The training of equipped and competent individuals will be provided to many issues in the discipline of International Relations
To evaluate countries and regions as combining practical and theoretical knowledge at the international level.


Course Content

In the first week of the course, the approaches and theories that critically anayze the developments in global politics. In the following weeks, issues such as China’s rise, Barak Ocbama’s approach to regional and security issues, the economic and political impact of the ongoing crisis in the EU countries, weapons of mass destruction and disarmamanet, terrorism, poltiical violence and global energy politics will be analyzed in the light of these approaches and theories.
