Course Objectives: | This course aims to give students a comprehensive understanding of the main issues in strategic management of innovations and new product development. It also aims to equip students with some related skills needed to manage innovations with a special focus on new product development process. The course begins with an introduction to the concept of innovation, innovation process and continues with studying models of innovation and product development, new product/services development processes, generating new product ideas and opportunities and managing innovations at strategic and operational levels. At the end of this course, students will be able to understand and assess innovation processes, develop managerial strategies to shape innovation processes and performance, utilise some management tools to manage innovation activities and to recognize the problems and barriers in the innovation process and develop solutions for them. |
