Course Objectives: Course objectives are to develop a sufficient background for students who wish to study more advanced biochemistry topics and to develop the ability to think scientifically and evaluate information critically.

Learning Outputs

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1. Knowledge on control and function of metabolism in different organisms and to be able to compare the information
2. To be able to ask the right questions about biochemical problems, to design experimental set up, to give the answer and the ability to extrapolate the results
3. To have the adequate knowledge to further pursue in different related scientific fields for advanced studies and experimentation
4. To learn about the recent experiments that are being conducted internationally in the field of biochemistry and to gain the habit of following recent scientific work
5. To learn about the important tools of experimental biochemistry

Course Content

Information on the cell as the unit of structure and function is given. Chemistry of the major constituents of the cell, energy generating and synthetic pathways and their regulation is covered.
