Course Objectives: Students participating in this course will be able to use voice, breathing and language devices, which are the most dominant instruments in the performing arts, efficiently, correctly and effectively. They will be able to reveal their ability to speak correctly, not only physically, but also in a psychological and cultural context. The relationship with the mother tongue will be strengthened by considering the historical development of Turkish and its culture. They will also gain the ability to adjust sound and speech in different communication channels, culture-art venues and technological environments.

Learning Outputs

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1. To learn the students' voice, respiration and language devices, their physical properties and different ways of application in a comprehensive way.
2. To gain the ability to develop the diaphragm capacity with special studies and to use the sound effectively in different regions.
3. To acquire the knowledge of using Turkish correctly by both perfecting the pronunciation and learning the spelling and speaking rules.
4. To develop the skills of adjusting the voice, getting into the appropriate mood and speaking properly in different field and technological communication channels.

Course Content

They will gain the ability to express theirselves beautifully and convincingly with rich practice, examples and studies. Will have the ability to use the right technique, emotion and expressions on and off the stage.

1) Getting acquainted, explaining the curriculum, transferring the objectives
2) Background of oral communication, eloquence and historical development of rhetoric
3) Characteristics and anatomy of voice and respiration- Resonator discovery of hotspots
4) Diaphragm - Posture - Strong breathing exercises with a relaxed and open body
5) Voice, phonemes and smooth articulation
6) Vocal range and articulation strengthening exercises
7) Mid Term
8) Phonetic knowledge, correct and incorrect pronunciations, galat-ı vowels
9) Pronunciation and correct expression, ulama, sedda
10) Emphasis in word and sentence I
11) Emphasis in word and sentence II
12) Pause, emotion and intonation in speech
13) Studies on Literary Texts: Poetry
14) Theater texts and voiceovers
