Course Objectives: | The course will provide a brief introduction to the history of commercial activities through the ages, from pre-historic period to the late 19th century. The focus will be given to the interactions of communities pointing out how merchantile relations determined the historical circumstances of interacting societies on historical, socio- economic and cultural basis. The method of the course will be interdisciplinary, nearby history of market economy, history of art, culture and literature will be taken as the other focused disciplines in presenting the issues by using a comperative approach. History of commerce will be submitted as one of the medium to understand the progression of history. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; The students who succeeded in this course: 1. Will have a historical background about the progress of merchantile societies, and learn observing human civilisations according to those. 2. Will have knowledge about the interactions among the commercial communities. 3. Will learn about the commercial institutions, unions, trade routs and commodities. 4. Will know about the outcomes of progress, clash of interests, commercial battles and related policies in forming the contemporary world trade. |
