Course Objectives: | Objectives of this course are to introduce the importance of medical terminology, principles for building medical terms, prefixes, affixes and suffixes, and to help students comprehend and use the common medical terms regarding anatomical structures, diseases, symptoms, diagnostic procedures and treatment options, and to enable the students to use these medical terms. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; 1- Explain the importance of using medical terminology. 2- Define the common characteristics of medical terms. 3- Combine the prefixes, affixes and suffixes and common medical terms. 4- Define the common medical terms specific for all body systems regarding anatomical structures, diseases, symptoms, diagnostic procedures and treatment practices. |
The course covers knowledge related to history of medical terminology, the principles for building medical terms, prefixes, affixes and suffixes used in building medical terms, terms used for medications, medical terms for musculoskeletal system, pulmonary system, cardiovascular system, blood and lymphoid system, gastrointestinal system, urinary system, reproductive system, endocrine system and nervous system, and sensory organs. |
