Course Objectives: Forensic psychology applies the psychological knowledge to the legal system. The objective of this course will be to provide students a broad overview of the field of forensic psychology and its application in the legal system. It is also aimed to inform students about the role of forensic psychologists, criminal behavior, offender profiles, and risk assessment of violence. Particular emphasis will be on the discussion of the criminal responsibility and the legal system in our country.

Learning Outputs

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1. Define the field of Forensic Psychology and the specific application areas in the legal system.
2. Differentiate the assessment procedure and methodology in Forensic Psychology
3. Explain the role of forensic psychologists in the legal system.
4. Define the relationship of criminal behavior and violence to psychopathy.
5. Discuss the reasons and risk assessment of violence.
6. Discuss treatment and management plans of sexual offenders.
7. Identify the profiles of offenders and the fear of crime.
8. Discuss the contribution of forensic psychology to the legal system.
