Course Objectives: This introductory course presents multidisciplinary and cultural approach towards consciousness, mind, and language. Biological, cognitive, and cultural aspects of consciousness, mind, and language, will be explored with readings from various fields, including biology, evolutionary anthropology, cognitive linguistics, and philosophy

Learning Outputs

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1 Name the physiological, cognitive, cultural, and anthropological bases of consciousness, mind, and language.
2. Differentiate the major biological, cognitive, and cultural aspects of consciousness, mind, and language in an objective manner.
3. Differentiate effects of cultural aspects on consciousness, mind, and language.
4. Use research methods in order to study major facets of consciousness, mind, language, and culture.

Course Content

The course will cover basic topics about malnutrition, poverty and intellectual development, science in the Memory Debate,psychology, Philosophy, and nothing,the role of intelligence in modern society: Cultural approach,reality of psychiatric disorders: Who is who?,development of language: Cultural and socioeconomic approach,consciousness: Anthropological & Philosophical perspectives,myths, countermyths, and truths about intelligence and mind.
