Course Objectives: | The objective of the course is to explain students with the basic social network analysis terminology, introduce software tools for network visualization, and teach various analysis techniques on social network data. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; Upon completion of this course students will be able to - explain basic concepts and terminology of social network analysis, - visualize networks using software tools. - perform empirical investigations of network data. - analyze the structure and evolution of networks. - use social network analysis in their own research. |
Basic network concepts; properties of real networks; models of network formation; random network models; preferential attachment; centrality; community structure; disjoint and overlapping communities; detecting communities; contagion and opinion formation; network games; network resilience. |
