Course Objectives: By addressing child health with a holistic, family-centered, atraumatic care and multidisciplinary approach; In line with the philosophy of basic health care, it is to evaluate, develop, protect and maintain the health of the healthy/sick child at every stage of health care, to provide knowledge, skills and problem-solving skills in meeting the care needs of the healthy/sick child and his family and in the follow-up.

Learning Outputs

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1. Knows the purpose, principles, roles and functions of the pediatric nurse.
2. Explain the state of child health in the world/Turkey and the factors affecting it.
3. Comprehends Children's Rights and lists their basic principles.
4. Explains the effects of child abuse and neglect, poverty and violence on children.

5. Gains the ability to make child-specific nursing practices.
6. Evaluates the growth-development characteristics of the child he cares for.
7. Knows the principles and practices of healthy nutrition in children according to age groups.
8. Evaluates the nutritional status of the child he cares for, plans and implements nursing care in cases of deviation from normal.
9. Distinguishes healthy and risky newborns, plans and implements nursing care.

Course Content

This course includes evaluation of children’s health both in the world and in our country, children’s rights, child abuse and neglect, effects of disease and hospitalization on the child and family, growth and development, administration of medication in children, nutrition in childhood, accidents and frequent acute/chronic diseases.
