Course Objectives: Objectives of this course are to introduce the philosophy of nursing profession and learn using nursing models/theories for prevention and health promotion of individual, family and community based on personal needs, and enable students to gain knowledge and improve their skills for assessment of health needs, planning and implementation of care interventions and evaluation of the care.

Learning Outputs

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1. To comprehend the nature and process of nursing.
2. Identifying the problems of the healthy/sick individual, planning, implementing and evaluating the care process according to a model.
3. Taking safety precautions for the patient.
4. Patient admission and discharge, understanding and practice of making beds.
5. Comprehending and applying hot and cold applications.
6. Comprehending and applying self-care practices.
7. Knowing asepsis and applying the rules of asepsis.
8. To comprehend and apply oral and parenteral drug applications.
9. Comprehending and applying nutritional practices.
10. To comprehend and apply excretory, respiratory and urinary system applications.

Course Content

The course includes knowledge and skills regarding basic principles and practices of nursing care based on nursing model/theories.

2) Online Virtual Classroom Monday 08.03.2021 ENSURING AND MAINTAINING A SAFE ENVIRONMENT Principles of asepsis, Infection control Lab Tuesday, 09.03.2021 11/03/2021 Thurs. Asepsis practices, hand washing Applications will be carried out in diluted groups with students who are in Istanbul and want to participate in the face-to-face application, wearing sterile and non-sterile gloves, isolation. Students who cannot attend will attend the class online. Videos about Asepsis practices will be shown on Friday, 12.03.2021. students; 1. They will reflect the data collection forms and state the problems they have identified. 2. The videos they took on hand washing, wearing and removing sterile and non-sterile gloves will be watched and evaluated within the scope of the checklist.
3) Online Virtual Classroom MOVE on Monday, 15.03.2021 Body Mechanics Principles Correct Use of Body Mechanics Disorders in Misuse of Body Mechanics Rest cure Basic Protective Positions in Patient Care Active-Passive Exercises Making a bed with a patient in it Lab Tuesday, 16.03.2021 18.03.2021 Thurs. In-bed position, out-of-bed mobilization applications. Applications will be carried out in diluted groups with the students who are sick in the bed and who want to participate in the face-to-face application. Self – Care and Hygiene Practices Hot Cold Applications Applications will be made in diluted groups with students who are in Istanbul and want to participate in the face-to-face application.
