Course Objectives: This course examines the character and context of the built environment and the key works in architecture from the middle ages to the contemporary period. The course covers the history of the urban environment—its form, meaning, function, and representation—addressing cultural/economic/natural factors, settlement patterns, structure, elements, typologies, design, planning, and theories of urban forms.

Learning Outputs

The students who have succeeded in this course;
Offered as a seminar, students who are taking this course will, on the one hand, learn about the sequence of styles, and on the other, they will have an idea about how the role of urbanism as well as architecture. They will also see how architectural works are embedded in their physical and social contexts.
