This course introduces the student to theory and application of engineering materials. While particular emphasis is placed on traditional structural materials, emerging materials technology is also discussed. Topics explore the physical and mechanical properties of metals, polymers, ceramics, and composite materials. Useful applications and limitations of those materials are presented, and means of modifying their properties are discussed at length. |
