Course Objectives: | Environmental impact assessment can be a complex and challenging task. This course is intended to integrate inter-related subjects such as cumulative impact assessment greenhouse emissions assessment, risk analyses, social impact assessment and international EIA into a single framework. A student completing this course will be provided with state-of-the-art tools, approaches and techniques to solve EIA problems. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; 1.Describe environmental impact assessment 2.Integrate inter-related subjects regarding EIA into a single framework. 3.Calculate emission values. 4.Deduce conclusions from risk assessment analyses 5.Analyze a system in terms of EIA 6.Rate components in terms of their impact on environmental and social factors 7.Propose an assessment scheme for a chosen significant change in the environment |
Pre-project environmental inventories and current situation analysis. Assessment of the environmental impacts of a project at the construction, operation, and post-project stages. Comparison of project alternatives in terms of their environmental impacts. Direct and indirect environmental impact analysis. Post project monitoring and evaluation. Strategic environmental impact assessment. The role of sustainability in planning systems and planning applications. |
