Course Objectives: | The objective of this course is to develop an understanding in terms of the essentials of therapeutic interventions for people who have been traumatized by interpersonal violence, human-caused or natural disasters and other overwhelming events. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; 1. Learn what constitutes psychological trauma and also the major types of traumatic experiences 2. Learn the effects of trauma and post-traumatic responses 3. Learn how to assess and identify psychological trauma through the use of psychological interviewing and psychological tests 4. Learn the basic philosophy of trauma recovery and central treatment principles 5. Learn how conduct psychoeducation for the traumatized people 6. Learn the use cognitive interventions, cognitive processing and developing a coherent narrative 7. Learn emotional processing of trauma 8. Learn the strategies for facilitating post-taumatic growth 9. Develop an understanding regarding the importance of clinician’s self-care and will be introduced with the self-care models |
