Type of course: | Departmental Elective |
Course Level: | |
Mode of Delivery: | Face to face |
Course Coordinator : | Dr. Öğr. Üyesi CANAN BAĞCI |
Course Objectives: | This course summarizes the current understanding of histology of epithelial, connective, muscle, nervous, blood, and lymphatic tissues along with some of the hundreds of cell types that are found there. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; 1- To understand and recognize at the light and electron microscope level how cells are organized into tissues and tissues into organs and organ systems. 2- To learn to extrapolate from 2-dimensiuonal sections to the 3-dimensional structure. 3- To relate microscopic morphology to cell/tissue/organ function. 4- To relate histology to other areas of biology. 5- To appreciate the effects of tissue preparation on tissue morphology. 6- To appreciate the use of histological knowledge and techniques in medicine and research in the biomedical sciences. |
Basic cell cytology. Various types of lining and glandular epithelia, connective tissues, muscle tissue, nervous tissue, and blood and immune system cells. Organization of these basic cell and tissue types into the lymphoid organs, circulatory system, urinary system, skin, respiratory system, gastrointestinal system, and glands. Selected histological techniques and the kinds of information that they impart. |
