Course Objectives: This course aims to give the ability of interior space organization and design of a co-working area; by analyzing user requirements and given space.
Analyzing the potentials of the given space, developing a design concept, preparing the spatial organization scheme and researching on co-working design are expected from the student.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1. Analyze and understand the characteristics of the nearby environment (historical, architectural characteristics, accessibility, etc.)
2. Analyze the potentials of the given space
3. Analyze user’s needs, goals, expectations, daily routines, workflow etc.
4. Develop a scenario and a concept for the defined requirements
5. Formulate an interior space that fulfills the requirements of a co-working space that is suitable, functional and aesthetic in accordance with the scenario and the codes and standards.

Course Content

Students of INT 2002 Studio are asked to design a co-working space in the South Campus of BAU. The aim of the studio is to provide the second year students advanced skills of designing interiors through a comprehensive design research in order to develop the ability of problem solving. Throughout this studio students will develop an understanding on key design methods, intellectual and technical mastery of skills and also gain an in depth understanding of interior design process by their inspirations.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents

1) INTRODUCTION: Description of the project and information about the given space,. Presentation on Site Analysis. Site visit. Description of the course, explanation of the design problem, discussion about the first impressions of the given architectural space.
2) Discussion on the site analysis posters of the students. Presentation on Project Brief & Scenario. Presentation on Concept and Mood boards.
3) Discussion on the brief & bubble diagrams of the project. Model making.
4) Development of design concept, preparation of conceptual sketches. Developing spatial organization scheme by drawings and models. Researching on co-working interior design.
5) Developing spatial organization scheme by drawings and models Preparation of 1/50 scaled plan & section drawings Investigations on material and color
6) 1st PRELIMINARY JURY
7) Preparation of 1/50 scaled plan & section drawings. 1/20 scaled reception area drawings. Preparing scaled models and drawings.
