Course Objectives: The course aims to develop the capability of three dimensional design thinking and drawing. It teaches the rules and principals of visual representation for architecture and interior design projects.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
The course enables students:
- to conceive the projects of any space given for design development,
- to represent their design spaces and elements in terms of plans, sections and views in different scales,
- to indicate information about their designs; such as dimensions and materials etc.) on the projects,
- to draw one point and two point perspectives of interior and exterior spaces.

Course Content

1- İnformation about the stages of architectural design development process.
2- Drawing standarts for architectural and interior design projects.
3- Representation of interior design elements and furnitures in different scales.
4- Principals of central projection, one point and two point perspective drawings.
5- Site plan and contour drawings in 1/200 scale.
6- Interior design project drawings (plans, sections) in 1/50 and 1/20 scales of a one storey and two storey building.
7- Staircase drawings in 1/50 and 1/20 scales.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents

1) Introduction: The objectives, scope, methodology and evaluation criterias and schedule of the course. Theory: İnformation about the stages of architectural design development process. Representation of interior design elements and furnitures in different scales.
2) Theory: Drawing standarts for architectural and interior design projects. Exercise: Furniture drawing
3) Theory: Principals of central projection, one point and two point perspective drawings. Exercise: One point and two point perspectives drawings of a basic geometry. Drawing exercise
4) Theory: Practical applications in freehand perspectives. Exercise: One point and two point perspectives of an interior space. Drawing exercise
5) Exercise: Architectural drawing of a one storey building in 1/50 scale. Drawing exercise
6) Theory: Staircase drawings. Exercise: 1/50 scale architectural project drawings of a two storey building. Drawing exercise
7) Midterm I
8) Term work: 1/200 site plan and 1/50 plan drawings of individual design projects. Drawing exercise
9) Term work: 1/50 section drawings of individual design projects. Drawing exercise
10) Term work: 1/50 exterior and 1/20 interior elevation drawings of individual design projects. Drawing exercise
