Course Objectives: | The aims of this course are; To develop students’ creativity, perception and sensitivity to natural and man-made environment, To enhance the students’ ability to approach design through understanding basic concepts, principles and elements of form, space and order, To help students’ gain mental and manual skills to THINK and ACT creatively and COMMUNICATE with forms and space and present their design reflecting what are sensed, perceived and understood. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; A Student completing this course will - Recognize basic principles and elements of design in relation to shape, form and space - Recognize basic definitions, tools and methods of design process - Develop abstract concepts through critical, insightful thought processes - Develop creative skills to perceive space as a three-dimensional entity through form generation, grid composition and formal collisions - Use various presentation skills and techniques to represent space in two- and three-dimensional drawings - Enhance verbal abilities to communicate design ideas to instructors and fellow students in open reviews. |
Within the scope of this course, the visual qualities and transformation of form, the potentials of various materials, definitions of space, the concept of generating atmosphere, interiority and exteriority, perception of space and form in natural and built environment and representation of what has been perceived and/or designed using diverse media will be explored. |
