Course Objectives: | This course is designed to analyse historical background and development process of justice freedom and security policy in the EU, evolution process of its institutional framework and decision-making system particularly since the Maastricht Treaty (1993). In addition to these, Schengen rules, visa issues, immigration and asylum policy of the EU, the changes which were introduced by the Lisbon Treaty (2009) are evaluated. In addition to these, migration and asylum policy of Turkey, increasing collaboration between Turkey and the EU in the field of migration especially after the migration crisis and recent issues such as the refugee deal between Turkey and the EU (2016) and visa issues will be discussed. |

Assess historical background and institutional framework of justice freedom and security policy of the EU, 2. Evaluate external border controls in the EU and Schengen regulations, 3. Explain legal migration and irregular migration in the EU, 4. Analyse asylum policy in the EU, 5. Discuss Turkey-EU collaboration in the field of migration and asylum policy. |
