Recommended Optional Program Components: To learn the material and production techniques related to given projects, site-visits can be carried out. Model workshop is actively used to realize the projects.
Course Objectives: Industrial Design IV is a project-based course that aims to build industrial design process by using modern tools and methods. Assigned projects focus on developing new products and systems considering sustainability, innovation, user experience, design thinking aspects. Hands-on process of the course includes identifying customer needs, concept generation, system and product development, design-for-manufacturing, user interface and user experience design considering social, cultural, business and ecological contexts.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1- display different kinds of skills and techniques including sustainability, user experience and system design in product development process.
2- demonstrate creative problem-solving and decision making capabilities.
3- display critical, analytical, evaluative and reflective competencies.
4- develop an understanding of using design for differentiation, innovation and value creation.
5- correlate knowledge and skills gained from other courses through practice.
6- coordinate interdisciplinary processes (industrial design, marketing, engineering, production).
7- Examine specialist area of creative practice within historical and contemporary contexts
8- Develop art and design solutions, through an iterative development process, in response to a given brief
9-Present an art and design solution, including a portfolio of development work, in response to a given brief
10- Evaluate work in relation to an identified area of specialism in the creative industries.

Identifying customer needs, concept development, product service system development, design-for-manufacturing, system design, user interface/ user experience, presentation of designed products/services
