Course Objectives: The course aims to teach design abilities with applied work.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
- Identify basic functional requirements at product design level.
- Identify design criteria relevant to the project.
- Apply the criteria to desgn-work.
- Generate a multitude of alternative paths to solution.
- Develope the alternative he/she selects to demonstrative level.
- Represent the final design in hand-drawn and 3D media.
-Evaluate a given brief to identify stakeholder requirements and areas for investigation and research
-Explore concepts, materials and processes through experimentation and testing
-Present a body of work that includes evidence of development process, as well as final outcomes
-Assess own process and outcomes, based on reflection and feedback of others.

Course Content

This course provides an introduction to establishing design criteria and scenario, using the phase approach of product design: basic research, ideation, refinement, documentation, and model fabrication. Students will broaden and utilize 2D and 3D communication skills, as well as develop aesthetic skills and learn creative thinking, reduction of concept to practice, manufacturing techniques and feasibility, and create a comprehensive targeted presentation with a final.
