Course Objectives: | Supply Chains are concerned with the efficient integration of suppliers, factories, warehouses and stores so that products are distributed to customers in the right quantity and at the right time. One of the primary objectives of SC management is to minimize the total supply chain cost subject to various service requirements. This course provides a comprehensive coverage of topics in the design and management of the supply chain. The topics include supply chain modeling, inventory management, risk pooling, value of information, supply chain partnerships, and decision support systems. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; I. Identify and explain central concepts within the fields of logistics and supply chain management. II. Apply inventory management policies to deal with variability in the customer demand and lead time in order to improve the efficiency of logistics and increase the competitiveness of the supply chain. III. Evaluate performance across the supply chain through appropriate metrics widely used in practice. IV. Identify the logistics network and positions the inventory on the supply chain. V. Illustrate the effect of the different types of supply contracts on the materials management and inventory control. VI. Explain the importance of collaboration and integration within supply chains. VII. Evaluate the strategies for procurement and outsourcing. VIII. Identify and assess the customer value in the supply chain IX. Define global issues and risks within the supply chains. X. Identify the need for information systems in the supply chain management. |
This course provides a comprehensive coverage of topics in the design and management of the supply chain. The topics include supply chain modeling, inventory management, risk pooling, value of information, supply chain partnerships, and decision support systems.During the semester, there will be few field trips to the companies practicing good supply chain applications. |
