Course Objectives: This course supports the attainment of skills and knowledge to propose solutions for specifically identified research areas of furniture and accessories. Research areas may include material technology, styles and periods for redesign, newly emerging needs and trends in modern furniture design, specific user groups and environments. Students are expected to apply design skills with a research-based approach to identify the target markets, user profile, design needs and directions to apply to effective solutions.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1. Describes methods of research on different topics of furniture design and development
2. Analyzes and reports the content of the research topic to widen the scope of furniture design
3. Discovers issues and topics about the design of furniture and accessories to develop design in creative areas
4. Apply design elements and principles for the development of furniture in accordance with research topic and project berief
5. Communicate effectively and convey ideas to present furniture design solutions for user needs and expectations.

New technologies and applications (Mass customization, modularity, digital revolution and results)
Multipurpose usage, flexible usage, stackability, adjustability
Special places (Schools, hospitable design, hospitals etc.)
