Course Objectives: | In this course, it is aimed to examine the society, the individual in the society, the individual's perception of culture; in short, the lifestyle of the individual belonging to a certain society and culture in a certain place, and the individual's clothing choices, which form the basis of all these titles. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; 1) Identifies the connection between the relationships between society, urban culture and the individual; 2) Analyzes the subcultural styles that exist in the international fashion design platform; 3) Compares how urban space affects the evolution of society and culture; 4) Compares how mass media and media affect subcultures; 5) Explains the definition of clothing as a means of communication; 6) Analyzes post-millennial global fashion design trends in youth subcultures. |
This course focuses on society, culture and subcultures through the city, and the reflections of subcultures in the field of apparel design. First, the differences between the city's central and non-central areas will be examined; the definitions of shantytowns, slums, ghettos and peripheral neighborhoods that provide the basis for the emergence and formation of subcultures along with the city center will be made. Then, the concepts of culture, popular culture and subculture will be defined; and how these concepts correspond to the city center and non-central areas of the city will be examined. Finally, the concept of clothing, which has its own communication language, will be defined and the clothing styles that emerged in youth subcultures after 2000 will be examined. |
