Course Objectives: This course explores the fundamental concepts of visual culture and the societal, cultural, and historical contexts in which visual images acquire meaning. Students will develop a deeper understanding of how images carry meaning and how they relate to social structures by applying various theoretical frameworks for analyzing visual theory.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1- Students will acquire foundational theoretical knowledge about visual culture and the societal and cultural meanings of images.
2- Students will gain the ability to analyze the meaning of visual images in various cultural and historical contexts.
3- Students will develop the ability to relate visual theories to social structures by analyzing visual images.
4- Students will analyze the societal and cultural impacts on visual images and present their analyses effectively.
5- Students will critically evaluate different visual theoretical approaches and assess the roles of images in societal and cultural contexts.

Course Content

This course explores the fundamentals of visual theory, enabling students to analyze visual images in societal, cultural, and historical contexts. Students discuss and examine the dynamics of visual culture and the societal meanings of images using various theoretical approaches. Teaching methods: lectures, case studies, group discussions, film/media analysis, workshops, practical projects.
