Course Objectives: This course enables the students of the performing arts department to learn the educational approaches of theater and drama; It has been designed for students to experience their theater and drama teaching skills. Practices entering the literature as Theater in Education (TIE) and Drama in Education (DIE) are very important in terms of discovering the pedagogical power of theater and drama. Drama and theater teaching perspectives will be the focus of the course.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Have an idea about theater and drama theories in education.
2) Can create a communication strategy about the use of theater art for educational purposes.
3) Can summarize the basic approaches to drama in education and the basic concepts of drama in education.
4) Learns to design an example of theater and drama activity plan in education in classroom management.
5) Have a practical idea about the use of drama and theater in education for children, young people and adults.

Course Content

This course is designed to enable performing arts students to learn educational approaches to theater and drama and to experience theater and drama teaching skills. Practices known in the literature as Theater in Education (TIE) and Drama in Education (DIE) will be explored to uncover the pedagogical power of theater and drama, with a focus on teaching perspectives.
The teaching methods of this course include group work, creative drama, educational plays, field trips, and collaborative learning.
