Course Objectives: This course focuses on computer-based, digital generated animation using 2D bitmap graphics, oftennthought of as traditional animation. This includes computerized versions of traditional animation techniques used in advertisements, films, television shows, computer games, or websites.

1) Learn 2D animation theory, engines, tools and basic business plan.
2) Create 2D characters.
3) Make 2D animations
4) Produce 2D visuals to convey an idea or create a story.
5) Manage comparative thinking, analysis, application, and conclusion processes in animation.

Course Content

This course contains both theoretical and practical applications on animation. Introduction to the principles of animation, applied to simple objects. Students animate with balls of different weight, a tow truck, and hips & legs of a simple character to learn about timing, arcs, spacing, ease in and out, weight, gravity, drag, secondary action, overlap, follow through, squash and stretch, and exaggeration.
