Course Objectives: | Aims to teach the fundamentals of music, makam and usul (rhythm cycle) theory and the practices of these concepts |
The students who have succeeded in this course; The students will know: 1- the fundamentals of Turkish music 2- the major components of the maqam system 3- the traditional rhythm cycles (usul) 4- the major maqams (scaler constructions) 5- Understand the relation between the 2 to 10 time rhythm cycles (usuls) and the melody 6- the students can use the major components during improvisation |
