Course Objectives: Comparative politics is the study and practice of
comparing different political units and systems, either in whole or in part. It concerns the domestic politics of states other than the U.S. Comparative politics is used to address such puzzles as varying degrees of democracy, varying levels of political and social conflict, varying levels of wealth, and to inform debates about creating or designing new political orders.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;

To learn important concepts, ideas, and disputes in comparative politics,
To have a complete worldview about international politics
To understand the broad scope of the governments’ structure
To analyze comparing different political units and systems,
To understand important issues in comparative politics, design of political institutions, ethnic conflict, political culture, and authoritarian government.

Course Content

This course will focus on the concepts that the basis of political science also political institutions and state systems of the countries will be examined. Countries in the international arena has been examined to the developing practices and traditions and also compare to different systems and state systems. Political structure of Turkey will be analyzed and discussed. Students will be able to make comparisons classification of systems with state and political structure will be covered in this course.
