Course Objectives: This course is designed to provide students with an overview survey of animation and VFX history from pre-cinema to the present day.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Learn basic concepts and terminology of animation and VFX.
2) Analyze works of animation and VFX through form, concept and context. 3)Gain a basic notion of the social history of animation and VFX.
4) Develop knowledge about the basic visual art styles and movements concerning animation.

Course Content

Students examine the evolution of the medium and how technology, economics, artistic trends, individual artists and national cultures have affected its development. Through interactive lecture, screening of films and research, students analyze works created for movie theatres, television and the web, all of which utilize drawings, stop motion, software, CGI and other techniques.
