Course Objectives: The main objective of the course is to focus on the use of sound elements in media environments. The course introduces and analyzes forms of new media & interaction design as well as the concepts of multimediacy, remediation, sound art, conceptual art etc. The basic principles of sound design for visual media will be exercised. The students will be able to experiment with creative use of sound to accompany and enhance visual media.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Analyze new media, their contexts and uses in different concepts
2) Define concepts of remediation, immediacy, hypermediacy and multimediacy
3) Evaluate interactive artworks, the use of multimedia and sonic arts
4) Define sound as a physical phenomena with acoustic properties
5) Apply certain procedures to manipulate recorded sound material in order to accompany visual media
6) Use digital audio workstations in order to process sonic material for audiovisual design
7) Identify the aesthetics of audio-visual correlation
8) Create audio-visual designs focusing on the use of sound elements by preparing projects
9) Experiment with sound elements to enhance various types of visual media
10) Recognize The Use Of sound elements distributed amongst visual media
