Course Objectives: The course aims to describe method and basic techniques in social science research as applied to the collection, analysis, and interpretation of social data. It describes and compares a wide range of research methods, both quantitative and qualitative, that social scientists employ in attempting to understand the social world. It covers designing qualitative and qualitative social science research; learning data collection and analysis for survey, experiment, historical comparative research techniques.

3. Understand a variety of methods of social research.
4. Understand ethical issues in social research.

Course Content

This course discusses different ways of doing research in social sciences, defines research and analyses methods and teaches the practical use of research methods.

9) To have the awareness of social issues in Turkish society, to develop critical perspective in analysing these issues and to have a knowledge of the works of Turkish sociologists and to be able to transfer this knowledge 2
