Course Objectives: Since Latin is not a spoken language, the course will be more grammar-oriented. Word structures, similarities with Western languages, and the origin of words will be studied. The history of Latin will be touched upon and the areas in which it is used in our daily lives will be underlined.
In our lessons, we will study sentence structures and translate from Latin to Turkish. Students who understand Turkish well but cannot write it well can also translate it into English. But since the courses will be held in Turkish, I would like to draw attention to the fact that students who do not know any Turkish should not take the course.
We will also include mythological texts in Turkish from time to time in our lessons. Later, we will do a Latin paragraph study on those texts. If we have time, we will also give short examples of cartoon stories that involve conversations close to daily life. And finally, we will briefly discuss a few authors and their works from Latin literature.
