Course Objectives: | Gaining knowledge about early intervention approaches and projects implemented to improve the development, health, social, and psychological well-being of children at risk, such as children with disabilities and those socially vulnerable. This includes understanding their characteristics, risk factors, and consequences. |
The students who have succeeded in this course; By the end of this course, students will: 1. Develop awareness of the importance and benefits of early intervention approaches and express this knowledge both in written and oral form. 2. Recognize and describe the defining and distinguishing characteristics of children at risk who require early intervention, both in written and oral form. 3. Understand the educational characteristics of children at risk who require early intervention and explain them both orally and in writing. 4. Gain knowledge about one of the at-risk child groups requiring early intervention and present the information in a PowerPoint presentation, both in written and oral form. 5. Learn about intervention programs developed for a specific at-risk child group and explain them both in written and oral form. 6. Find and analyze a research article published in a Turkish or international academic journal about one of the at-risk child groups requiring early intervention and prepare a written summary. 7. Develop the skill to conduct a literature review and access scientific sources related to a specific academic topic. |

In this graduate-level course, students are expected to independently access relevant sources on the assigned topics and utilize them in their presentations. Due to the content and presentation-based structure of the course, students will conduct a literature review on their presentation topics, consulting with the instructor as needed, and will be responsible for accessing the necessary sources themselves. Other required readings will be uploaded for students via Itslearning. |
